Much has been written about workarounds to deal with the demise of the old mercury batteries for light meters of the Canon FT-QL, FTb, etc.
Recently, I came across a battery replacement that was designed to work in Bulova Accutron watches that can't use zinc oxide batteries but need the voltage characteristics of the original mercury. The battery is only for the built-in light meter, and the camera works fine without it.

Canon FTb review. The replacement battery is a 1.5v alkaline battery 625a. If you put a new battery in there, it won't show a proper reading unless you also use an adapter to pull the voltage back down to 1.3V.
